Freemasonry

A tradition of reflection, fellowship and service

Freemasonry brings people together to cultivate character, friendship and responsibility through shared values and symbolic tradition.

What Freemasonry is

A voluntary fraternity in which members meet, reflect on ethical questions, support one another and contribute to society. Ceremonies use symbols and allegory as prompts for personal development.

Values

Friendship, integrity, respect and charity provide a practical compass. Freemasonry does not offer political programmes or replace religious belief.

Misconceptions

Freemasonry is not a secret government, a business network or a substitute religion. Privacy around ceremonial detail is intended to preserve a shared experience, not to conceal the lodge’s purpose.
